Senior Goa Cabinet ministers stated that the problem
is mainly because Goans are selling the land.

I am disappointed with this view and disagree
completely based on the below points:
-This is a relevant issue as the very Goan Identity
and ties to the soil are threatened. Yes, we can buy
in other states but those respective
states/populations are large enough to withstand
    identity change.
-Certain critical areas has to be controlled by the
Government where the local society can be affected
e.g. Traffic, Stock Market, Insurance, Economic or
Protection policies etc which are done by India and
even advanced countries like the US and France.

    -One main reason the price of land has shot up;
various politicians in the Government and Panchayats,
who have been paid huge sums to clear land illegally
and support huge projects for Non-Goans elite. Not to
    mention threats and intimidation.
I request each and every Goan to start with the first
step and demand that MLA focus on the issue of
of "Goan Identity/Land" and flood the media with demands.
Let us start doing our bit for Goa before it is too
late. Equally I hope that at least 1 Goan MLA has the
courage to address and action this very important issue.
One idea could be a formation of a
cell in the Government which (A) Starts a dialogue
with the central government on how to preserve Goan
identity and (B) Identifies opportunities to protect
Goan Land, Jobs, Culture, Language and interest.

Will this decade will known for liberation of Goa from
the Goans or will we do something to prevent it!!.
Let us look at "Can do" NOT "Cannot Do"

'Senior Goa Cabinet ministers stated that the problem is mainly because Goans are selling the land.'

Wrong - let's see somebody expose how many properties have be appropriated by these Ministers themselves.

Dayanand Narvenkar was the master of this game. His so called lawyers office in mapusa in the old days employed young girls so that they could search and destroy records of properties whose owners had left Goa for foreign shores.
These properties he just ussurped under assumed names and over time disposed them off to buyers. The owners or their descendants are probably yet unaware of their loss. Even if they did, they would probably never recover their ownership rights as the records are long gone. Pure proof, go the civil registrars office, Mapusa. Pages of most decendancy records are missing from their books. (whole pages gone)

The only case I know is of a property next to the Mapusa church which was retreived after the owners went to court with the right papers. A few years ago the Colvale hill was such a beautiful place. Look at it now. Maybe some reader can enlighten how Narvenkar came into possession of these properties for sale to ugly roadside industries, when there is a Govt industrial estate a few kilometers away.

Fellows like Babush Monserate etc have taken the game to the next level. Forcing poor villagers, through intimidation, into selling their ancestral lands to buyers for huge sums whilst the real seller got peanuts.

A bunch of gaonkars from Sangolda, sold off the green valley, Porvorim and sorroundings, which rightly belonged to the communidade. (who says communidade lands are untouchable)

Even the church is no saintly organisation anymore. Lands in Goa mostly belonged to the church fabricas, temples and communidades. Falling attendances at services gave way for corrupt local church bodies to sway the Vicar and assistants' attentions to making money. With un-authorized approvals from the Bishops palace, even the once, so called no-sale properties, belonging to local parishes have been given away. (who says priests and nuns are not involved, they are humans too.)

Lets see TV stations like NDTV run exposes on these kind of crooks in our present Govt.

Lots of nice coments passed against foreigners in goa which amount to a mere few hundred families as against a few million goans abroad. How about doing an exchange program and sending all the XXX Goans back to Goa where they belong and the few hundred families of foreigners leave Goa.
Send them all back. Then were will they stay??? there are more Goans abroad than in Goa. So maybe then more construction is required. But the RGP is canceled. Oops...we goans messed up...oops.

The main problem is that we goans are known for our attitudes,we laze so much only to realize that we are looted by outsiders. We say, save Goa, strive for nationalism, but at the end of the, we are blinded by the dollars and the pounds, just to get higher returns...that has to stop.

What are we doing to curb the sale of land by freelance real estate agents?

There are so many companies, from bangalore (to name one) that are selling land. Land is not expandable commodity to rate it with the likes of an fmcg good?

We see gujratis buying land, people from delhi, mumbai?, no offence if anyone is ethnically related to the above mentioned, but we are goans right? At the end of the day, We Goans, who are in Goa and working in Goa, sweating it out with the meagre salaries, cannot afford our own land?

So whose fault is it reaaly?

    OURS!

We vote those criminals to power and we give such delicate portfolios to these satanic materialists who would care a damn and rather rape Goa, inorder to fill their coffers.

Goan families have settled across the globe, especially in the English-speaking industrialized countries, such as Britain, Canada, Australia, and the United States. They have integrated themselves quite successfully into their new environment. I do believe we have incredible potential but we need to channelise this to our homeland too... We must make a differrence and take a stand to preserve Goa.

    Bring home that genius !

i agree with cindy .... hey arwin stop blaming all goa's problems on outsiders ... don't forget that they are also making a contribution to goa's economy and growth ... how many goan's are willing to do hard labour work ... not many because they would rather do it elsewhere for more money ... so the gap has to be filled with migrant labour while you are sitting in the uae making some nice bucks and farting some silly ideas ... if u have the balls move back home and do something about the problems that you are crying about ... goa belongs to goans ... because goa is governed by them ... if there is a problem then they are the ones who can and should take responsibility for it and fix it ... hey genius what are you in the uae ... take rick's word (because he has some wise ones) and go home to start a revolution

Lackluster Sale of Goa in Delhi

    Main Article: http://navendushirali.blogspot.com/2008/03/lackluster-sale-of-goa.html

Destiny permitted me to attend Goa Property Show organized by Magicbricks.com (TIMES BUSINESS SOLUTIONS LTD) at Tivolli Gardens, Delhi on 15th & 16th March 2008. I am not sure, about the expectations of the Developers who had their stalls. As low turnout was seen on the first day with less than 300 viewers registered. Shockingly for me, most of the real estate developers were based in Delhi, NCR, one even from Kanpur. With all showing images and videos of ready to move properties and dream homes to the affluent “Delhiites”. With typical sales promises such as “When do you plan to visit Goa next, just give me a call, we will pick you up at the airport and take you to the site”

we have no problem with outsiders or even foreigners who buy a flat and stay put or small piece of land but when u start buying huge tracts its alarming. yes goan are there all over but they have gelled well wherever they are. they have merged with those identities actively contributing to their development. what happened to uganda after goans and other indians were thrown out? we have not gone to places as pensioners but to work and develop, so let there be no problem on that account.Yes definitely and as alarm bells are ringing Non resident goans all over the world should start creating space for themselves in little goa too.or in rest of india as india is becoming a vibrant economy and everyone have set there eyes on the share of pie.so goans staying abroad pl.be ready start investing in new ideas in goa.Goa needs u more thaN EVER.

we goans have been aptly termed as lazy. we see these politicians hand in hand with the outsiders usurping our land and we bunch of fools are wathching these crooks do their job in style. Can't we kick these politicians out of our sacred land? these monserates, narvekars, churchills, pachecos are crooks and should be banished from our sacred land. Please my dear Goans, rise. Let us form a platform to throw out these crooks and save our Goa for the future generations.

    Landlords Capitalistic Excuse

Landlords defend SALE of Goa to the highest bidder; non-goans in particular. My criticism is not for Landlords who will not Sell Goa; no matter the price. It also is not to Goans, who have not gone into real estate; to sell same at a higher rate to outsiders. Many Outsiders & politicians with illegitimate wealth, invest in Goa's Properties; should Goans suffer because they generally, don't have this illegitimate wealth?

Capitalist excuse does not hold; as Capitalism does not take precedence over the interests of the society? Landlords ignore that there is a civilized Global understanding on the latter. For instance, why are there Government controls on basic food essentials; what if these were at the mercy of capitalism?

Business deals should have social responsibilities. If any action affects the society, then it has to be stopped. If Landlords have a right to sell land, so do people in the society have the right of priority; to live in decent clean, disease free environment with stable infrastructure, reduced contamination levels, sense of identity, maintaining livelihoods, safety etc Today, Goa has significant problems resulting from Non-Goan land sales, Mega projects favouring outsiders, un-necessary constructions etc. If the Society suffers, then the so called rights of these specific Capitalistic Anti-Goan Landlords are not valid. Arguments for protection of their land should be addressed, to ensure Landlords rights are protected, but the arguments should not be an excuse to SELL GOA.

Each community has limits to non-local land sales; to safeguard its identity. Unlike other states, Tolerant Goa has way crossed the limit & now needs safeguards. The current land sales rate will make Goans irrelevant & no community will accept the same, for themselves. Let's focus on what's right for Goa; not what is Legal for Goa.

Cindy and ad, If you are not goans, first place you are not invited in this discussions. These discussions and this website says it all SAVEGOA. If you are not here to save goa, please shut up and be happy what you have in goa , instead of trying to get more greedy. Don't you think GOA is taken by greed? And which country or state are you talking about goans.. ? where ever goans are there, they have taken the responsibility of merging with the identity of that country or state and have contributed to the development of that country or state and are paying taxes and social securities of those countries or state. Do you pay a dime to goa in taxes or social security? Do you contribute to the development of goa? Is any non-goan migrant contributing? Ask them why they r in goa first place...? And please don't discourage someone for doing somethingg good...whether he is in UAE or UK..doesn't matter as long as the force is creating a difference....stop negative comments..if you are in goa what have you done other then just talking negative and trying to discourage those who try to do something...Beleive me if you are a goan in 5 to 10 years you will be a begger on the roadside if you are not part of this movement and stop the politicians and greedy people around you. So jpin the movement. Again to those who are unware about this movement and this site..this is for like minded people who want to make a difference.. if you are not part of it, your comments and suggestions are not welcomed. Thanks
